To his wondering inquiries she explains her presence, and recalls to his mind the persecutions to which Philosophy has oftentimes from of old been subjected by an ignorant world. Philosophy reminds us all, of the plight of Socrates. Is Boethius engaging in a bit of vanity here? I'll leave that up to you, to decide.
